You have to stay quiet, I think, around a baking souffle, because if there are loud noises or crashing, it will crash or something. I think that is what happens with angelfood cake, too, although I’m not sure. My grandma was always saying stuff like this, and I think one time she was making an angelfood cake when all 7 of us were over and it collapsed. There is almost no way to ensure quiet with 7 kids under the age of 11. Well, it still tasted good, I vaguely remember. On a metaphorical level, if the souffle is a thought, you can’t think too much, because thoughts crowd out thoughts. That is the idea behind meditation, and sometimes quiet is a great thing. If you empty yourself, you allow yourself to become open for new ideas to work their way into you.
Why would anyone bother making a souffle if it is so picky and you need to be perfect? Who cares?
